Commandment #1: No Other Gods

In the first commandment, God forbids that we tie our hearts to anyone but Him. God requires the full devotion of our hearts, and promises eternal satisfaction in Him alone.

Commandment #2: Do Not Make Idols

In the second commandment, God forbids us to make idols. God doesn’t want anyone to worship Him incorrectly. He takes it very seriously because He wants to be truly known and loved.

In the third commandment, God tells us not to take the Lord’s name in vain. God takes carrying His name very seriously. We are to carry the glorious and majestic character and reputation of the LORD everywhere we go, in everything we do.

Commandment #4: Sabbath

In the fourth commandment, God tells us to keep the Sabbath Holy. Sabbath means taking intentional time of rest in God to reconnect with Him. This is an incredible eternal gift from God to find true rest for our souls.

In the 9th commandment, the Bible tells us not to bear false witness against our neighbor. When we tell the truth, we reveal the true nature of God to others.

In the final sermon in this series, we look at the 10th commandment. God commands us “do not covet” because He loves us, and He is offering us protection. Coveting destroys individuals, friendships, marriages, churches, and nations.
