This song is about the victory we have in Jesus’ name even as we contrast our struggles with His victory. The phrase in the bridge beautifully sums up what the song is about… “In Your name I come alive to declare your victory, the resurrected King is resurrecting me”
With different things in life it is so helpful to center our thoughts on Jesus. This song is such a beautiful prayer expressing both God’s holiness and our heart-felt response of worship both in our song and in our life. We love the line at the end of the chorus as it relates to becoming more outwardly focused in our neighborhood, “lead me in your love to those around me.”
Who You Say I Am
Hearing God’s voice above all the noise to hear who He says we are, is what this song is all about. The chorus beautifully portrays our freedom in Christ that, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” – Romans 8:1.
This song has quickly become a favorite around here. Expressing our need of a Savior in this song reminds us of Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” And then responding with “Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free…you have broken every chain, there’s salvation in Your name, Jesus Christ, my living hope.”
Ephesians 2:1-2a says, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked…” This song gives voice to what our Breaking Chains series is all about – living and realizing the new resurrection life that Christ has won for us who believe and trust in Him!
