Most Home Bible Studies meet regularly in the homes of its members. Often a potluck dinner or dessert will be a part of the meeting. Each group spends time discussing the Bible and how it applies to their lives. The focus of such Bible discussions is to stimulate thinking about the significance of its teaching for our lives. Bible discussion may be preceded or followed by a time of prayer for specific needs that members may have.
Home Bible Studies will occasionally have activities other than a regular meeting. A Home Bible Study may plan a picnic, go on a weekend retreat or minister together on a service project. Some will have activities or meetings for just men or women. The relationships built during these activities serve to cultivate a sense of an “extended spiritual family” for the members involved.
The Home Bible Study is also a center for outreach to bring others into a relationship with God and others in the group. Such love demonstrated among believers to non-believers can be a powerful influence in bringing them to faith in Christ.
Leaders of new Home Bible Study groups are recommended by the leader of the Home Bible Study group in which they have been involved. They are evaluated and approved by our church leadership based upon their Bible knowledge, personal character, ministry skills and experience.
