A great way to get plugged into FBC is by taking a Compass Core Class. These classes, offered through Compass Ministries, are designed to assist you in following Christ.
Rather than merely offering a variety of electives, Compass Ministries seeks to identify and impart core truths vital to every Christian's walk with Christ.
The renewal of our minds by these truths, taught by some of the best teachers in our church, will lead you to a transformed life that will glorify God and serve His purposes.
The current Core Classes begin on October 3 with registration beginning on September 12. The three Core Classes offered this semester are: Our Mission, Our Marriage, and Our Message. Follow the links below or at left for more class details.
The Learning Process
The process itself consists of several steps:
- Each participant is to spend time reflecting on an issue and the questions related to it that are designed to stimulate thought concerning that issue.
- With the issue clearly in mind, participants are then to study relevant passages from the Bible to search out God's truth concerning this issue.
- With both the issue and the passages from the Bible clearly in mind, participants are then to read and reflect on supplementary materials that have been selected for their relevance to that particular issue.
- Participants then meet together to discuss the issue, sharing with each other their understanding of how God's truth addresses the issue and its implications for their lives and ministries, thereby sharpening each other's thinking and strengthening personal convictions.
- While participants are encouraged to make notes concerning their thoughts about each issue during the process, following the discussion they are to distill their final thoughts, beliefs and convictions in the form of written projects to encourage personal application

OUR MINISTRY - The Seven Priorities of the Christian Life
This class will clarify your life work, placing your spiritual development in the context of your overall life, enabling you to live a balanced and fruitful life as you seek to serve Christ.
OUR MISSION - Discipleship Evangelism
This class will equip you to effectively share your faith as well as initially establish a new Christian in the first principles of the Christian faith.
OUR MATURITY - Growing Strong in Christ
This class will help strengthen you in the Christian faith through taking a closer look at the core teaching of the apostle Paul contained in his letters.
OUR METHOD - Grasping God's Word
This class will assist you in acquiring practical tools for studying the Bible that will prepare you for a lifetime for learning from God's Word.
OUR MESSAGE - God's Incredible Plan
This class walks you through the story of the Bible in such a way that you can see your own life in the midst of God's incredible Plan.
OUR MASTER - Following the King of Kings
This class walks you through the life of Christ to help you know Him and follow Him more consistently and closely throughout your life.
OUR MAIN BELIEFS - Delivering and Defending the Faith
This class will help you better understand our statement of faith as a basis for your standing firm in the truth of God's Word.
OUR MARRIAGE - Building a Strong Home
Whether considering engagement, engaged, newly married or celebrating years together, this class will assist you in learning and living out Biblical principles for a strong marriage.
OUR MONEY - Your Money Counts
This class will assist you in understanding and applying the Biblical principles for earning, spending, saving, investing, giving and getting out of debt.
