Short-term missions are an excellent way to get a taste of missions and personally help expand God's kingdom. Each year FBC expands its short-term missions opportunities. Most trips are launched in the summer and there is something for everyone from teens to seniors. Specific details are announced during Short-term Missions Weekend or can be obtained from any member of the Missions Committee. Set aside a week or two of your vacation and spend it in a significant way for God's glory!
Tuesday morning, John walked from his loved Chevy truck into school. At lunch, he walked to the library to complete his homework. Moments later, he walked into the presence of God.
John Tomlin's life was tragically ended on April 20th, 1999. He was a victim of the Columbine shooting in Littleton, Colorado.
John was very normal - just like you. yet, seven months earlier his life took on a deeper meaning. One September evening at a youth meeting, he recommitted his heart to God and dedicated his life to serve others. Little did he know that his death would serve to bring new life to so many.
What brought validity to John's life was not his deep love for his family, his church, or his Chevy truck. Nor was it his good works. John's life meant something because of his relationship with Jesus.
The John Tomlin Memorial Scholarship Fund was set up shortly after the Columbine tragedy in memory of John. This on-going ministry provides scholarships to youth who require financial assistance for short-term missions participation.
